Sustainable Cleaning Laboratory |
Don’t just listen to the future of cleaning. Try to create it together.
A special industry section within the framework of the Sustainable Cities Forum – a professional experiment.
The Sustainable Cleaning Laboratory – a professional practical session dedicated to how the model of organizing professional cleaning and the relationship between the client and the contractor is changing.
Instead of a traditional conference with sequential presentations, there will be practical cases, teamwork, professional discussions, and testing of solutions for economic viability.
The focus will be on two interrelated issues: How to move from selling man‑hours to measurable results, and to what extent the effectiveness of cleaning depends on the building itself, its design, and its operation.
Here, you are not just a listener – you are a participant in a professional experiment.
Moderators and presenters:
• Anna Raldugina, industry expert in medical and industrial cleaning, founder of the Housekeeping Stars Awards
• Maria Lemesheva, head of the cleaning department at K Plus Group, independent expert in professional cleaning, cleaning technologies, and the economics of cleaning processes

Act I. “RE‑CLEAN”
What will a cleaning company sell if the customer stops buying the number of people and man‑hours and starts buying measurable results?
The proposed solutions will undergo professional review: how applicable they are to a real facility, what changes they bring to the contract economics, and what risks they create for the client and the contractor.
Experts of the first stage*:
Client · Contractor · Robotics and automation · DATA / AI · Contracts and SLA · Resource efficiency.
Result: jointly developed “Sustainable Cleaning Model – 2030”.
- Part 1: a professional dialogue “Customer vs. Contractor”: how to ensure quality, who benefits from increased productivity, who invests in technology, and how is the economic effect distributed?
- Part 2: participants will receive the initial model of a cleaning facility and will try to rebuild it in five working teams:

Act II. “BUILDING VS. CLEANING”
Can all operational problems be solved using cleaning methods? Or were some of the costs already factored in during the design, construction, and selection of materials?
- Participants will conduct an operational investigation using a specific facility as an example, examining architectural and technical solutions from five professional perspectives:
DESIGN → OPERATION / FM → CLEANING → MATERIALS / COATINGS → TECHNOLOGIES / ROBOTIZATION.
- Entrance areas, floor coverings, restrooms, glazing, and other zones will be assessed based on their impact on daily maintenance: labor costs, resource consumption, repairs, and the building’s life cycle cost.
Participants will need to determine which problems can be addressed during operation and which should have been prevented at the design stage.
Second-action experts*:
Architecture and development · Operations/FM · Professional cleaning · Materials and coatings · Technologies and robotics.
Result: a jointly developed “Checklist of a facility that is convenient to operate.”
